One Girl at a Time
At Women in STEAM Initiative, we empower one girl at a time
About us
Women in STEAM Initiative is a Kenya-based organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women with critical skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Through hands-on training, mentorship, and innovative programs, we inspire the next generation of female leaders to pursue careers in STEAM fields and bridge the gender gap in technology and innovation.
Our mission is to equip young women with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in the digital age—fostering creativity, problem-solving, and leadership. From coding, robotics, and 3D technology to STEM storytelling and VR-based learning, we are creating inclusive pathways for girls to unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to the world.
The Initiative launches STEM clubs in primary and secondary schools across Kenya — safe, inclusive, hands-on learning spaces where students explore robotics, coding and computational thinking.
The clubs emphasise project-based learning, teamwork and building confidence in STEM for girls and young women.
These are extracurricular structures integrated with the curriculum to boost engagement and expose students to digital tools early.
STEM Clubs
Women in STEAM Initiative fosters innovation through school-based STEM Clubs that empower young learners—especially girls—to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics in a fun, hands-on environment. These student-led clubs meet weekly, engaging in coding, robotics, design challenges, and practical experiments that build critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity.
Why are we unique?
Women in STEAM Initiative is unique because it empowers girls and young women through hands-on STEM education, mentorship, and creative problem-solving. By combining science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with leadership development, school clubs, and accessible programs, we break barriers and inspire a diverse, future-ready generation of female innovators.
