Through support provided to Women in STEAM Initiative from Connection Ubuntu's donation of laptops, we are providing a Digital Skills Program to different regions across Kenya starting with Kiambu and Embu counties. This program will help youth become digitally literate and equipped with key 21st century skills positioning them for excellence in the competitive market. 

The Women in STEAM Initiative Digital Skills & Digital Literacy Training Program is a 3-month practical, physical training program designed to equip youth with relevant digital and technical skills for today’s evolving workplace. We also work to ensure that women and girls are given the highest priority throughout the digital literacy training program. 

The program is set to launch operations in January 2027  to youth across EMBU COUNTY, EASTERN KENYA, with women especially encouraged to apply.

💻 What they will Learn

Digital Foundations

Build essential computer, internet, productivity, digital communication and online safety skills.

 Programming

Learn programming fundamentals, computational thinking, coding and problem-solving.

 Web Development

Develop practical skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and learn how to build functional websites.

Applied AI Skills

Explore AI tools, prompt engineering, AI for productivity, AI ethics and responsible use of technology.

Capstone Project

Students apply their skills to a real-world challenge by developing and presenting a practical digital project.

Pathway to Becoming a Trainer

The program also creates an opportunity for top-performing graduates to be considered for the Women in STEAM Initiative Train-the-Trainer Program and join our pool of Digital Skills Trainers for future training opportunities.
